| dc.description | El presente artículo expone un estudio exploratorio de la relación entre el enfoque de las capacidades de Amartya Sen y el procedimentalismo epistémico, en torno a la medición de la pobreza. El estudio presenta los rasgos generales de dicho enfoque, para luego analizarlos a la luz del procedimentalismo epistémico.Se identificaron algunas dificultades que presentan la concepción deliberativista de la democracia y el proceso de construcción de listados y consensos para el diseño de instrumentos de medición de la pobreza. Se demostró que el mayor nexo entre el enfoque de las capacidades y el procedimentalismo epistémico se encuentra en el plano teórico. Por ello, el reto para quienes estudian la pobreza y las necesidades sociales reside en que el ideal de la democracia deliberativa pueda aplicarse a la definición de las necesidades o de los listados de capacidades. | - |
| dc.description | The paper presents a preliminary approach in order to explore the relationship between the capability approach by Amartya Sen and epistemic proceduralism, regarding the measurement of poverty. The paper starts presenting the general features of the capability approach, and then analyzes the Sen’s capability approach in connection with epistemic proceduralism. Difficulties are identified regarding the deliberative conception of democracy and the process of construction of lists and consensus for the design of instruments for the measurement of poverty. It was demonstrated that the greatest link between the capability approach and epistemic proceduralism is theoretical. Therefore, the challenge for those who study poverty and social needs resides in the fact that the ideal of deliberative democracy can be applied to the definition of the needs or lists of capabilities. | - |
