| dc.description | En este trabajo voy a sostener que algunas metáforas no pueden ser explicadas por la influyente teoría de Davidson (1978) sobre el asunto. En particular, afirmo que algunas oraciones metafóricas, muy extendidas en contextos artísticos, no son ni trivialmente verdaderas ni patentemente falsas punto esencial para que la teoría davidsoniana funcione. De esta manera, sostendré que este tipo de metáforas que traeré a colación obligan a los davidsonianos a rever o a modificar su teoría. Al mismo tiempo, sugeriré que las teorías de Black y Goodman podrían estar mejor preparadas para solucionar el problema que plantean estas metáforas. | - |
| dc.description | In this paper I will argue that some metaphors cannot be explained by Davidson’s prominent theory of metaphors (1978). My thesis is that some metaphors –commonly used in artistic contexts- are neither patently false nor trivially true. This quarrels with one of Davidson’s main assumptions. Subsequently, I will hold that this point forces davidsonians to review or modify their theory. At the same time, I will suggest that Black and Goodman’s approach to the subject might be better suited to explain the problems these metaphors raise. | - |
