| dc.description | Este artículo indaga las reformas carcelarias que tuvieron lugar en Argentina y Chile en el período de entreguerras. Analiza el clima de ideas y las controversias en torno a la administración del castigo masculino y busca dar cuenta de las transformaciones en la estructura estatal en ambos países. En tal sentido, abordaremos dos problemáticas que si bien se distinguen analíticamente se encuentran estrechamente vinculadas. Por un lado, a partir de las herramientas de la historia comparada proponemos dilucidar las especificidades que adquirió la creación de agencias gubernamentales encargadas de las prisiones, así como el rol de los funcionarios en ambos países. Por otro lado, apoyándonos en las perspectivas de la historia transnacional, analizaremos las características que asumieron las ideas de la criminología positivista y los diferentes proyectos que llevaron adelante estos especialistas dentro del Estado. | - |
| dc.description | This article explores the penitentiary reforms that occurred in Argentina and Chile in the interwar period. This study analyzes the intellectual climate and controversies regarding the system of punishment and seeks to shed light on the institutional transformations that took place in both countries over the course of those years. In this sense, we will explore two issues that could be analytically distinguished but are certainly intertwined. On one hand, taking into consideration the insights of comparative history, we hope to apprehend the singularity of the process that lead to the foundation of new State agencies in both nations and the role that the bureaucracy and professionals played in these transformations. On the other hand, based on the perspectives from transnational history, we will examine the specifi cities that acquired the positivist criminology in that period and the proposals that, according to these ideas, promoted scholars and technocrats during the interwar period in the Southern Cone. | - |
